Reporter John Sutter traveled to Indonesia and Vietnam to investigate the pangolin trade. Having worked together many times before and being very familiar with his reporting style, I was able to give John a bit of basic video and photo training before he set out. He gathered footage and images on his phone, a GoPro, a Canon DSLR, and a hidden camera for specific scenes, all while he reported his text story. When he returned, we went over his footage, and I wrote a script, coached his voiceover, edited the video, and served as multimedia producer on the interactive story, coordinating with the designers.
